My name is Aman Ashraf. I am a 16 years old freelancer & entrepreneur from Pakistan. I started my journey by taking small projects and getting paid for them. My freelancing career has led me to independence and has made me eligible to pay for my expenses on my own. Now that I have found my own financial independence, I am determined to help other teenagers do it too.
Whether you are a teen or an adult, it’s possible to make money online. There are many platforms on the internet where you can earn online. You just need a good internet connection, a computer and at least one skill. If you have these three things then you have a bright freelancing future. If you want to get rich immediately this isn't the job for you. It takes long hours, work, and dedication. In online jobs, most of the time the pays are not very good. But if you are planning to be independent and want to pay for your expenses then I would prefer an online job for you. If you are thinking that you need a professional degree then you are wrong. You just need to be very passionate and not to lose hope.
I started working online when I was 14. I was very passionate about earning online because I used to hear about online jobs from the internet. I also wanted to do an online job but I thought that maybe I am not eligible to do it because I don’t have a degree and also have no skills. I lost hope and thought that I am not going to get any job unless I have a professional degree. But my thought was wrong.
After a few months I started to write short stories and articles. Because English was not my first language, I sometimes made grammar mistakes and that’s why people criticised me a lot. I felt so bad that I stopped writing. But at that time I had a very good friend and she always helped me in writing. She encouraged me by telling me about a few platforms where I can earn online. I signed up to all those websites and started to make gigs but I didn't get any orders. Gigs mean the services that we provide. I tried often but got no orders. I began thinking that I should leave the digital freelancing to the professionals. Eventually, I lost hope and stopped making gigs.
However, my parents were a big support for me. My mother consistently supported me with my freelancing career, even when I was new and inexperienced. When I was on the brink of giving up, she lifted me up and positively pestered me to continue. My parents encouraged me to give it another try and make gigs again. After two months I thought to check those websites again. When I signed in, I saw one message and it was by someone who wanted some sort of data entry work. I contacted them to ask if they still need my services but unfortunately they already hired someone else. Though I had lost the gig, It eased my mind because it reassured me that someone would want my work. This gave me hope and I started to make gigs again. Right after 13 days someone contacted me for copy/paste work, they were paying me well for it as well. I immediately started to work on their project. They gave a very good rating and left a very good review on my profile. That review helped me a lot, because work started to consistently pile up. A time came when I started to get 9-10 orders every month and the pay was not bad either. People wanted to hire me permanently. Eventually, my freelancing led me to my current job. Now I am able to pay for everything I want and I am enjoying my independent life. My freelancing career has given me independence and freedom. Everyday I grab my laptop and a cup of coffee and get started to work.
My day is divided between my studies and my job. I manage it very well. I have scheduled a time for my school and studies. It seems pretty hard to manage school with an online job. But if you plan your days well then it’s not hard at all. I always perform very well on both sides. I follow my school routine very strictly and try my best to provide the best work to my clients. I never compromise on both sides.
Though my parents are comfortable providing money for my schooling, I wouldn’t want to burden them with fees if I can earn money for schooling on my own. My parents appreciate me being financially independent and it is easy for others my age to earn money as well. Many other young adults have to pay for schooling and it can be tricky earning money on your own. I am grateful for my financial situation in which my parents offer to pay for my schooling and help me out, though it is rewarding to earn for myself and relieve any financial troubles. No matter what financial situation you are in, it is very possible to independently earn money for yourself and to aid others.
Please never lose hope when you are passionate about something. If my parents and my friends did not encourage me then I would never have got work because I already lost hope. Hope is the only thing that keeps you moving forward. It invigorates you to get started once again from whatever complications you are experiencing.
